Detecting alcohol impaired drivers had gained lot of importance in past few decades due to increasing accident cases. Most of the accidents occur due to scoffing stance of driver primarily owing to drunken driving. The causticity is that it has gone unchecked in the sense that none of the several hundred regulations framed by our government has made even the slightest of impact.
A crew of 3 named Karthick, Aravind and Usha Sakthivel contrived a system to nullify alcohol driving. Based on the perspiration the system checks whether the driver is under the influence of alcohol or not. The system is positioned in the way such that it detects only the driver of the vehicle and moreover it won't affect the driving if the commutators are dunk. This system checks whether the driver has consumed alcohol and he his exceeding its limit before starting the vehicle. If the driver is detected, it does not allow the vehicle to be driven further. This system periodically checks whether the driver consumes alcohol while driving. If so an alarm is tuned on intimating both the driver and fellow road drivers that he his under the influence of alcohol.
The virtues of this system include various features like ingenuity, simplicity of design, easy implementation, cost effective. The proposed system can be conveniently integrated in existing automobiles. This will save road users from the cruel crutches of ‘Drunken driving and Rash driving’. It is well known that “Prevention is better than cure”. The adaptability and its potential scope for integrating various other systems such as biometrics and anti-theft seem to be highly promising.
